Take Root Campaign

We’ve been looking forward to this moment for six months! Catalyst Youth Network started with a vision to see a world where every child has equal access to what they need to be successful in life. Now that we’re up and running, here’s how you can get involved.

Help us Take Root

Today we kick off our Take Root campaign in support of the youth of Oakland.

We’re building a network to fill the significant gaps faced by children and families in accessing services and resources in the city, and could use your help.

We have counted the cost, developed our plan, and now we are working hard to raise the $24,000 we need to cover our first quarter of expenses so we can begin 2021 from a place of strength.

Today, on Giving Tuesday, our aim is to raise $8,000. Excitingly, the first $2,500 we receive in donations will be doubled--thanks to a handful of generous contributors to a matching fund.

Help us take root here in Oakland as we are planting this new nonprofit. Please consider donating today!

We’ve hit the ground running

Through providence, an opportunity arose for us to pilot our youth advocacy program with 8 single mothers of students in need, via our partner nonprofit Children Rising. These mothers have found themselves facing some unique challenges due to our national health crisis, including but not limited to their kids doing distance learning. We have been able to recruit 8 volunteers in this last month, and set them up with these moms as mentors and advocates to help connect them to much needed resources. We were also able to deliver Thanksgiving dinners to them, thanks to a partnership with The Father's House Oakland.

Coming in 2021!

We are planning on starting job training courses with Street Academy in the next few weeks, serving roughly 30 students in the spring semester. Our goal is to connect at least 8 of these students with volunteer this spring semester that will work with them long-term as advocates and mentors.
